About Hickory Corners, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Hickory Corners, Michigan is a very small community located in Barry County. As of the 2010 census, this census-designated place was only home to about 320 people. The first settler was Reverend Moses Lawrence, and he constructed his home here along the shore of the Lawrence Lake in 1834. Today, the community is home to people who commute to larger cities for work – Battle Creek is 16 miles southeast and Kalamazoo is 17 miles southwest.
Despite the small size of Hickory Corners, there are a few noteworthy things to see when traveling through the community. The Gilmore Car Museum is arguably the most popular, as it has been called one of the top five car museums in the country. The Automotive Heritage Center features about 150 vehicles, including motorcycles and cars from all eras. The outdoor campus is only open from April through November, and it includes a working 1940s diner. History enthusiasts may also like to stop at the W.K. Kellogg Manor House or grab lunch at the Dandelion Café and Bakery.
Weather conditions in the region vary from season to season. This includes a snowy and potentially frigid winter. Temperatures reach average daytime highs of about 31 degrees Fahrenheit in January and February, but overnight lows in the 20s or teens are also common. For safety reasons, residents need to have a reliable gas or electric furnace in place.
Summer weather in Hickory Corners is a far cry from the cold, frigid conditions of January and February. Many residents enjoy this season for the ample outdoor recreational opportunities, as temperatures are very warm and skies are often sunny. The potential for severe storms exist, and high humidity can feel stifling at times. To cool off and to escape muggy outdoor conditions, Hickory Corners residents are wise to invest in a trustworthy central air conditioning system.
